What is Clown?
Clowning is an ancient tradition! It is a full bodied, full throated, heart-centered art form that is more physical than improv and more absurd than traditional acting methodologies.
It's also very, very dumb 🥸

Why does Clown matter?
The purpose of the clown is to make sense, reflect and bring joy to tragedy and to alchemize suffering. The clown can reveal deep truths, turn the mundane into the sublime and make us laugh in spite of ourselves.
But will this help me book jobs?
Yes! Clown is a great practice for any acting experience where you need to use your full body, soften your heart and Play! It's especially useful for that weird commercial audition where they ask you to be a "dolphin" or that scene where you have to be drunk while flipping burgers.

What will I learn?
How to use your whole instrument.
How to tap into your personal brand of Clown
How to access more Freedom and Play!
Re-relate to your body’s way of moving
Find your voice in new exciting ways
Get comfortable with taking risks (how to fail and risk again!)
Learn how to activate Play when collaborating with others
How to stay engaged and committed to the bit!
Work out your comedy muscles (which are also the honesty muscles)!
Minimize the Cringe when doing something you’ve never done before & when working with brand new people
You will have a grand ol’, silly ol’ time!

A body, a voice and willingness. Bring clothes you can move in. Please no jeans! Bring water, snacks and lunch. Something to jot down ideas or thoughts would be cool too!
-
Yes! Clown can sometimes push us to physical and vocal extremes--but your extreme isn't the same as mine. This isn't a one size fits all kinda practice. This is a celebration of your unique stupidity.
